Ace batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who moved into his five storey home in Bandra in September, from a flat that had been allotted to him under the sports quota has managed to get a Rs.1bn insurance cover for his home, reports said.
One private insurer and four general insurers namely Oriental Insurance Company, United India Insurance, New India Assurance and National Insurance Company have provided the cover, the premium for which will be Rs.4mn per annum.
According to reports, the cover has been divided into a fire insurance policy of Rs.750mn and an additional cover of Rs. 250mn which would cover household items such as furniture, electronics and cricket accessories to name a few.
The fire insurance covers losses from blaze, terror attacks, natural disasters such earthquakes, and burglary etc. The insurance covers the cost of the land and compound walls, besides electrical equipment, reports said.
The 6,000 square feet villa in Bandra West stands on a plot of land that earlier housed a dilapidated bungalow, which the cricketer had bought for Rs. 390 million in 2007.
