Little master Sachin Tendulkar was portrayed as a golden boy by the west Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, as the cricket association of Bengal honored the all rounder for the completion of one hundred international centuries.
While praising on the behalf of the government, the Chief Minister told the little master that, as he is considered to be a golden boy, he is being gifted with a golden bat and ball. She also said that the state government is proud of him and salutes his achievement.
The ceremony of honor took place on Saturday at the Eden gardens just before IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians.
With a loud applause Sachin Tendulkar started to address the heaving crowd in Bengali by saying ‘Bhalo Achi’, he thanked the people for their love and support showered on him all these years. He then added that he will never forget the valuable memories and the pleasure he got during playing here.
Mamata Banerjee, while giving the golden bat and ball to Tendulkar also offered him a pot full of rasogollas, a famous Bengal sweet. Jag Mohan Dalmiya, Cricket Association of Bengal superior, who was present at the function, joined them when the little master was honored with gifts and a ‘Uttario’ (traditional scarf). The Chief Minister who recently recommended Tendulkar’s name for the highest pride –Bharat Ratna as the Mumbai superior achieved the goal in Dhaka.
Dalmiya presented with a souvenir to Sachin Tendulkar congratulated him for his one hundred centuries. The Eden Garden ground was fully decorated with the banner in which was written that Cricket Association of Bengal is saluting Sachin for his remarkable performance.
Jag Mohan told that this is the first time Sachin has come here after reaching the milestone; therefore we decided to honor him in a fabulous manner along with the state government. A total of 65,000 small posters were pasted to each chairs in the ground by the CAB.
